I was lucky enough to see the film projected in the Royal Albert Hall in London with a beautiful live orchestra. The soundtrack is my favourite thing about the movie so it was a stunning experience to see the work that goes behind such a vast ensemble of musicians all playing in perfect synchronisation with the film. It especially made me appreciate the compositions and how they perfectly encapsulate the themes and messages of the movie. It's a fittingly simple but effective approach that boils down the bare essentials of each character into their most pure elements that packs an emotional punch. yoda is my favorite character in star wars and maybe one of my favorite characters in fiction period and the only way he could be better is if Mandalorian season 3 revealed grogu talks like everyone else and yoda just chooses to speak like that for no reason

This movie is 40 years old, I've watched it (and the other original Star Wars) a million times, and I literally never noticed until today that C-3PO has one silver leg.

At the age of 7, I knew practically nothing about Star Wars. It was the Burger King kid's meal toy promotion for Revenge of the Sith that got me fascinated in all these weird aliens and robots. I got the Han Solo toy that came with a carbonite shell to put him into, and had so much fun playing with it. My dad, eager to properly introduce me to one of his favorite franchises, asked, "Do you want to see the movie where Han gets frozen in carbonite?"

So there I was, watching my first ever Star Wars film, getting absolutely transfixed by the epic battle of Hoth, the funny robots, the cool lightsaber fights, and the sad ending made…

Viewed Despecialized Edition

The Empire Strikes Back takes the incredible foundation of the original classic and digs into its problems, insecurities, and emotional dilemmas that were left in the shadows previously. It's the equivalent of peering into an open wound, with every beloved character dealing with issues and trials that are both fascinating and startlingly introspective. It only helps that every scene is perfectly composed, wonderfully acted, amazingly scored, eerily shot, and mindbogglingly awesome. I get chills just thinking about Darth Vader waiting for Luke up on that platform, enshrouded in mystique and menace, ready to smother the light from Luke's soul.

The Empire Strikes Back is my favorite STAR WARS film and one of the finest works ever made. Fucking Shakespearean in its themes and scope, this mystical masterpiece enthralls again and again. It'll never age.
this is the best star war because it has the most han solo screentime :)
